I was at my local auction today and saw a mint, brand new pork-pie X246 in it's box with all packaging and accessories. It was with a pile of WWII items. I had to drop out of the bidding as it went too high for me :( . But it shows that stuff is still out there waiting to be discovered.

Hi Terry what i do in this situation is sit back and watch who bids then ask if the will sell you the lamp for a lot less than the lot costs :),
it has worked for me in the past chances are he was after the WW11 stuff and would have been glad to get some of his outlay back??

Hi Kenny. I was going to do that (and have successfully done it before) but it was won on a commission bid so I've no idea who bought it. It's a pretty laid back rural auction and market where it's quite common for people to take what they want from a mixed lot and put the remainder back in for the following week's auction. I'll go along next Tuesday in hope [-o< . I've acquired some good lamps and stoves there in the past (like the Optimus 930 I bought there last week and posted in the Gallery) .

    Regards,
    Terry

Terry, Kenny is proof of what you were just saying, i.e. "But it shows that stuff is still out there waiting to be discovered". That's what keeps us all looking.

    Hi Terry

You ought to be aware that the Tuesday Market you mention is really my patch! True, I have been neglecting it for a couple of years - whilst doing something else.

It does turn-up some nice toys; I've had a Jacobean stand, OL50,an SDR as well as more routine stuff over a 10 year period.

Hi Ian. Nice to see another Sussex collector! Many of the stalls are also at Hailsham market on a Friday morning.

    Hi Terry

Hailsham's mine too! I have had an AL8 track lamp and a Welsbach table lamp as well as routine stuff.

OK, I'll let you keep Hailsham   I rarely go to that one. I wandered around Lewes last week. All I saw were some overpriced X246Bs in the flea market.

    Regards,
    Terry
