Does anyone know where to get needles and jets for (Australian made) Aladdin lamps? In Australia? Does Sands in Melbourne stock them? I have two Aladdins which I've fettled and are going great guns but I have to hand prick the jet due to the prickers having no needle. I'll post pics in the Gallery later today. Cheers Tony
You would need to contact TW Sands direct. I think that parts are stripped from lanterns that are "beyond repair". and kept for people, just like us or for there own repair dept.
I'm fettling an Aladdin A1 that needs a new needle and coupling box. I've read that these Radius 119 parts are interchangeable so I ordered them from Fogas in Sweden. I'm waiting for them to arrive so hopefully they'll work. Cost was $39usd which is pretty good for hard to get parts. Fogas were pretty good to deal with, quick email response too considering I had to translate there web page!! I didn't get a reply from TW Sands.
Let me know how the Fogas parts go. I'll drop in to Sands next time I'm up in Melbourne. In the meantime I'm using the Aladdins by carefully cleaning the jet every now and then. Cheers Tony
I guess you just could have send your request directly here at CPL. Then translation wouldn't have to be necessary. Conny is the guy at Fogas who deals with the older stuff we are interested in, and of course he is a member here! Another option could have been that you posted that you needed 119 needles in the wanted section. I think I have more of those than I ever can use myself, and they would only have cost you the postage, if even that...

I received the Radius 119 needles and coupling box and they fit ok. The genuine Aliddin ones must be a tad bit longer as I had to adjust the length of the needle close to the limits and a bit of locktight helped too. When tested I got no leaks from the jet.
I have found that as well but have never compared them side by side. Does anybody have both types handy to check?
I have one genuine Australian Aladdin needle to compare with the Radius 119 - I'll do so next weekend and post the pics. Cheers Tony
If you get really desperate for one that can't be found, (or just ornery and want to prove it can be done) there's always this. http://www.colemancollectorsforum.com/post/making-a-new-pricker-6278006 Adjusting of course for different mounting styles.
That doesn't look like the original Radius needles I am used to. Those are square in the cross section all the way and has three lines for 300CP lamps. (You will see when Tony post his.) Atleast the older ones look like that, but perhaps yours is from a later production, and they actually looked like this. or it can be a reproduction needle, and nothing wrong with that. It looks allright, even if I forgot exactly which length the "normal" 119-needle has (I measured one recently). But it's in the same area.
Here is the comparison of the an original Australian Aladdin pressure lamp needle with the Radius 119. The bottom (closest to the ruler) needle is from an old Aladdin 1A (total length to tip if needle 28mm); the top needle is a NOS Radius 119 (total length to top of needle is 26mm). .. and here is the Aladdin lamp the needle is from: I'll post in the Gallery when I pull it down and got it working properly. Cheers Tony
