Dinner For One... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1v4BYV-YvA Is a 18 minute single take black-and-white 1963 TV recording that has a huge cult following in Germany. It is shown every year on New Years Eve on virtually every major German channel at some point. So I'm curious as to whether other countries have adopted this tradition?
Oh, yes. It's always aired here in Sweden on new years eve. It has been so for as long as I can remember, so probably more than 40 years.
It's not to mine to be honest but I became aware of the tradition a few years back and as that time of year approaches again became curious... I found it quite interesting that a quirky little programme mostly forgotten in the UK has such a following elsewhere... I actually found it playing a somewhat geeky New Year's Eve game of "chasing midnight" where you attempt to find New Year's Eve celebrations live from as many countries as possible... If you toast each one you'd struggle to make it as far as ours
Well, you know what they say about the German sense of humour - it's no laughing matter - but their jokes about sausage are the wurst! I'll get my coat...
I've borrowed this information from another message board... A full (as far as I know) list of airings on 31st December
