Hi, my name is Frank, I am 46 years old, I live in Germany and really love pressure lamps, carbide lamps and kerosene stoves. One of my favorite lamp in my collection is the Vapalux model M320 - well and plain designed, reliable, not as loud as Petromax or Coleman and perfect for indoor use. Last mounth I bought another M320 which was described as "damaged and broken". It was offered in an auction at Bletchley Park - I never heart of that place before. I thought this dark season of the year would be the right time to fettle a lamp. But when LAMP arrived I was surprised because all I had to do was to activate LAMP's reactor. From the beginning it shone extremely bright and has been shining for four weeks now. Is there a special technology involved? Any suggestions? Regards -Frank
That was the general idea, Frank! (sorry, couldn't resist it ) Seriously, welcome to the forum. The Vapalux M320 is a great user lantern and one of my favourites. Running for four weeks must be some kind of record, though, even for a Vapalux...
Thank you all for your warm welcome it's good to see that you have this strange sense of humour, too ... By the way - does anyone know where to buy this special fuel for my lantern?
eBay - good idea, but shipping is expensive and I am not really sure if it is customs-free. Oh, THEY are knocking at my door, THEY are coming, see you soon - Frank
Hi Frank, Welcome to the forum and I hope the NSA has released you already Try to let the order be sent to Bielefeld, everyone knows that it doesn't exist so no one bothers
That last remark had me laughing to myself even the thought lol" is it nuclear .. yes great lamps vapalux m320 very reliable. And hi frank.
Hi all, after a long trip I am glad to be back again. The evening when THEY were knocking at my door I had to use the TIME DEVICE of my Vapalux - you know the plate where "Vapalux - Willis & Bates - Halifax" is engraved. I was wondering all the time what 2049 stands for - now I know! So I travelled to 2049 and had to learn that Great Britain had the €uro, that due to a European law for equal treatment the whole euro zone had to drive one week on the left side and the other week on the right side (the car manufactorer Rolls Royce offers the model "Diamond Shadow 2.0" with two steering wheels). Furthermore the usage of kerosene lanterns was strictly prohibited, because the sound and the bright light disturbed the sensors of the WORLDNETWORK, which had to be installed in every room of every household (monitor with microphone and camera) in order to guarantee 100% security and doubleplusgood 24/7 TV. My Vapalux kept shining all the time and I neither had to change a mantle nor fill up the tank - this is quality!
Frank, you will obviously fit in very well with others on this Forum. By the way, I thought it was said that Germans didn't have a sense of humour!
