Hi, My name's António, I work at the Portuguese Geographic Institute and I'm the curator of our museum department.
The reason I'm posting this topic is because, among several activities we participate in several exhibitions related to Cartography, and we are going to use one of our Radius lamps that its not in good "shape".
To make it look nice I need to remove the glass, but I don't know how.
Is there any body out there that knows how to do it?
    Thanks in advance

If you don't intend to light the lamp and just want to clean the glass for display, then it is very easy. Loosen or remove the top handle, then the top assembly should just lift off in two parts. You may have to work it a little as they can sometimes be a bit tight. The glass can then be lifted out.

    Thanks Terry
    I've just solve the problem.
It was a mater of rust, that's why I couldn't open it, but with a little help of lub every things OK
    Thanks any way

That's a nice looking old Radius 103. It's an early one so probably from the 1940's. It looks like it is brass. Is this correct? Normally they would be nickel plated and I am not aware that the factory offered them in a plain brass version.

The only part that is nickel plated is the ventilator cap, on the remaining parts there are no residues of nickel. Looks like it is all brass

I know there are many who look at this and start reaching for the Brasso, but truly this is way too beautiful of a patina to ever touch. Will get even better with time.
