This combination heater/stove is almost identical to the "S.Auer 2 Usages" posted by Andreas Peuker in 2011. I estimate this combo to date from the 1920's. It is a large primus "type" stove (a silent burner), suspended under an enamelled cast iron framework. It is very heavy! The reflector is copper and there is a pot trivet at mid- reflector height. I have actually boiled a kettle on it to prove that it does function as a cooker as well as a heater. The 1 litre boil test took 19 minutes with the heater cap off and 12.5 minutes with it fitted, so it would appear that it is desgned to work as a stove, with the heater cap in place.
Yes Paul, bought it locally in Dorset. Jeff, the cast bit is very well built, but the stove tank is poor quality compared to the Swedish and UK equivalents. The burner is Primus, and the pump is good quality, so I think it is a design that was sold to various manufacturers in France and they all put their own name on the product. I understand that le Jumeau in French means The Twins, and there is I believe a town in France still named Le Jumeau. Claus; the enamel and the enamel colour is what made me buy it. Could not resist it! I love these old enamelled stoves and lamps. It is not what I would call an efficient piece of kit, but at nearly 100 years old, it is good that it still works.
