These photos show the latest addition to my Coleman collection. This model 201 lantern was made in July 1981.
You are a fortunate man Jeff. I almost never see Colemans in Danmark - everything else but colemans. You should not have lighted it - the mantlecolour fitted perfect Claus C
Hello Claus, the Coleman 201 works well and it runs on paraffin/kerosene which I prefer. The 201 turns up on UK., Ebay quite often. The mantle did match well! I had one pack of Coleman number 21 mantles left and I tried 3 of them, but they all delveloped holes as they burned off and the cord on the fourth one was only threaded through about half of the mantle so I did not bother trying it. I fitted a Peerless 2C-HG and it was fine, Jeff.
Jeff, If you can find Coleman 99 mantles they work just as well, if not better than the 21 mantles. I had the same problem with some of my number 21 mantles some time back and wrote to Coleman about it. They sent me some new ones but never really directly answered my question. I think it had a lot to do with or where they were being made. Anyway, the problem seemed to clear up.
Hello George, thanks for the tip and i shall try a Coleman number 99 mantle. The Peerless mantle which i fitted developed a hole after a few hours, so i then fitted a Sun Flame mantle and it's fine, the link below shows them, Jeff. http://0flo.com/index.php?threads/5331
Jeff- Thats one nice 201 youve got there. Just wondering, would you say the 201 has 300CP compared to other 300-350CP lanterns?
Hello Kristian, it works very well, but it's not as bright as the Tilley lantern which is shown in my avatar photo. It's and early 1950's Tilley Guardsman lantern which I have fitted with cage extensions and an older type of 169 vapouriser and an older type of Tilley burner, so it works like a Tilley should, The link below shows larger photos, Jeff. http://0flo.com/index.php?threads/4551
