Hats off to both of you, that's 170 and 100 miles round trips.

Friends don't let friends lose lamps to shippers.

OK, but I don't blame the shippers - rather the idiot who sent the lamps with fuel in them... ](*,)

    David,

I don't blame the shipper for the refusal of an oil soaked parcel. But the shipment consist of three parcels. The latest information I got was that "all three parcels are leaking fuel". I really start to believe in some kind of black magic :)

And I do blame the shipper for their ignorance about the customer ... they told me as well that the little round trip from Daventry to DHL and back waisted 171,- GBP that I payed for the delivery to Austria. I will not get a refund. I cannot tell which of the three ebay sellers made the mistake.

Funny thing is that Borderlinx offered me to send the lamps back to their origins - as if a transfer back to the seller is less dangerous.

    Anyway, can't change that.

I will not spend any further penny on that lamps, as sad as it is. That means: those little lamps are free to good hands. At the moment Derek is negotiating with Borderlinx about a pickup. Derek, if you get them let them shine!

    thanks for you effort, folks
    Alexander

I live about ten miles from Daventry. If there is a problem getting them picked up let me know.

Well, lamps are safely collected. One of which had a half cup of old paraffin left in with the vent screw left open hence leakage which upset the shipper. The other two were bone dry.

Working with Atopo on their fate. Could be they get shipped on to him if thoroughly purged and a shipper given the right information to accept them.

    Any advice or links welcomed.

I recently used parcel2go to send a lamp to Europe - went through fine. Mind you it was a Coleman PQ so may not have been recognised as a fuel containing appliance. I would wash the lamps out with soapy water, dry them and send them.

Hello Derek, that is also good news!

In the post which is shown via the link below, Neil mentions a courier which he has used, Jeff.

Thanks Jeff, I'll be taking detailed photos today for Alexander (Atopo) and will get the one lantern with traces of old paraffin cleaned up. Then we'll go through the packaging/weighing and getting some quotes from UPS through Transglobal.

If that doesn't do the trick - there may be lamps for sale in Much Wenlock!

Lamps all arrived at Atopo's safely on Tuesday Morning.

    Sighs of relief!

I think we will see at least one of them popping up on the forum some day soon! ;)

PS: I chose Interparcel as shippers, and at a price of £24 door to door by road.

Yes, I've used Interparcel of several occasions and always found their service to be excellent.

...and just to say I think it's great what you did for atopo - first class!

Well, it gets me off my backside.

Grumpy cynical git at heart, but I like to help when I can.
