Hi, first post so hello to all. Just bought two nice Tilley X246B Storm lamps which I'm going to restore. Read somewhere that a more modern type or improved version of the pre-heating torch is available. Can anyone let me know where I can buy a couple of these ? Also, are there any 'Bling' bits around for the Tilley's like there are for the Willis & Bates lamps ?

Am I right in thinking that you leave these permanently attached unlike the clip on ones that come with a Tilley ?

Not permanent in the sense of being fixed: they slide over the vaporiser and remain in situ while the lamp burns.... or forever, if you never slide them back off.

The ones that loco7lamp makes also act as an insect shield if left in place....

... I've only used Stu's so I'm not sure of the dimensions of the ones from eBay...

    Welcome aboard from the States!

I can vouch for Stu's heaters as being a long-overdue improvement for Tilleys. The clips pale by comparison.
