Hi! This is my newest item, yet unrestored. It is a Aladdin-Petromax 828 rated 300CP. The scratched numbers on the tank bottom say "9 3", so I assume that it could be of March 1939. This lantern seems to be very remarkable for Petromax because it has a kinked lower part of the vaporizer (826 style), but employs a positive shutoff fuel valve driven together with the pricker excenter. This is necessary to allow the usage of the rapid preheater. Common 828 and 829 models have a straight vaporizer with the spring loaded fuel valve on its lower end. As usual there is no meths cup for preheating. Unfortunately the nickel plating is almost gone, but no dents nor stress cracks at all. The control handle is unusual compared to other Petromax types, due to its extended functionality. The manometer on the filler cap is stamped "Petromax D.R.P."
Hi again, here are some new photos of the lantern after a good cleanup of all functional parts and replacement of all seals/gaskets. I decided to leave the patina as is. It is now running well and shows no problems at all. According to another post of Claus C I now think that the manufacturing date for this thread should be changed. I read "9 3" instead of "9 8" in mistake, thus interpreting the wrong order of numbers. With the correction the manufacturing date would not be March 1939, but September 1938. BR, Martin
