It is just my 2nd pressure lantern purchase and it happens to be the HK150. I really like the wooden box Petromax to go along with HK500. But there is none for the 150 other than the zip bags. I would prefer at least the plastic hard carry cases that Coleman have to go along with their lanterns and there are lots of sizes for different models. So I came up with my own box for the HK150. I would like to see other homemade boxes out there too This is made from paulownia wood and finished with shellac. inside view overall Next project probably for my Butterfly 500cp
Nice box. How do you keep the lantern in place when moving ? I once made a webpage about home made boxes.
Three Hundred?? Oh my I got round rubber pads packaging material for huge pipes I got from my workplace. Once awhile they throw out a few. I find it real easy to pump with lanterns sitting on those pads. They won't budge and they don't allow the nasty floor to scratch lantern foot. I'll have the pad on at the bottom inside of the box and crumpled newspaper to stop the lantern from rocking too much in there. Use those then to clean the glass a little. Also a polishing cloth or wiping rag could do the trick to fill the spaces I guess.
That's only a guess - I lost count of the actual number many years ago. Some people here have many more...
I dont think I can replicate one more like that one I built. I used a general wood handsaw for every single cut and a tiny motor tool for the internal support bars. I got to get myself a jigsaw soon. That will go a long way. Especially if Im gonna build a carry case for a 500cp lantern where I cant use poulownia. Cutting a lot of mahogany pieces with a handsaw will not be so pleasant
