This photo shows two variations of Tilley R-1 spigots and I assume that one style is older than the other, but I'm unable to date them.

    Perhaps someone else can? Jeff.

I've got the older style R1, and my spigot is as per the left hand one (longer).

I have another spigot that has been fitted to a 246B, and is clearly the wrong spigot for that lamp, but looks like the right hand one.

Hello Derek, the shorter of those two spigots may for the cast iron burners, perhaps someone who has a cast iron burner could check it and let us know, Jeff.

Yep, you are right, the longer spigot is for the flat top heater burner. The even older slim heater burner has an even longer one.!

When you say the even older slim heater burner, I assume that you mean the cast iron burner?

If so, then the shorter spigot which is shown in the photo above must be a more modern example, Jeff.
