These were produced from 1925-1928 according to the "Green Book" These lanterns would have been equipped with a mica globe, most likely, when new. Glass was installed for a clearer view of the air tube/generator
2LZ and 2LZ427 are not model numbers for these lanterns. Those were just Hiram Strongs designation for these lanterns when he was recording the shipping. Hiram's records are of course not illustrated and he used a system to enable him to understand what different lanterns he had shipped before he was aware of the correct model numbers. He did this a few times with these lanterns and with the early shipped L427s. They are both therefore model LZ427. ::Neil::
Hail Glen & Neil. I happen to own an example of this lantern that my collecting friends call the 'Penis Lantern' owing to the external pump. Mine was made in 1926 and I have had it professionally rebuilt by a man who is an Authorized Coleman Repair Center in Yucca Valley, California. I have the original, undamaged Mica globe for it but elected to have Fred Kuntz, in Pa Painesville, Ohio, build me a new one for the paltry sum of just $37 including shipping. His work is legendary.
