Here is my Nite-Hawk. This version does not have a pump but is fitted with an inlet valve in the filler cap. Henry and I bought one each so we got different types. His is a bigger tank and is fitted with a pump. When I can get close to the other one I will take some images and post them here. There are always slight changes in these lanterns because they are built in very small batches and Jake keeps changing various bits. I just weighed this one and it comes in at 8 lbs. Has about half a tank of kero but is still a heavy beast. ::Neil::
UUmm m m .. . I like this one, Neil, it's like a J.C Higgins Rocket, but the Snr version with some fancier finishers on it. It sure would be a good do, if I could learn more about where all these older styles can be found. It just seems to be that ebay is the one & only place, to buy lamps from, I'd thought about placing an add in the local Examiner, or even the Yorkshire Post :- "Money Upfront, for Old Lamps/ Lanterns " Could be another bus ride to oblivion, with me in a bit of a pickle, 2 mile down the road, from the Farm house I brought a bagful out of. Cheers, Regards, Jon.
These might be an older style but they are brand new. I don't think there has ever been one offered on the Bay yet. They are I guess a sort of Coleman/Petromax crossbreed and being hand made from the best materials are heavy, solid and very expensive. ::Neil::
Hiya Neil, Do you mean "new" as in made from year 2000 onwards, or say from the eighties onwards ? I consider most stuff, old, if it goes back to the early to mid seventies; but mostly respectfully ancient, if any more further pre-1970's. They're quite a catchy lantern, very nice proportions, & the gun metal looking, type vent, just shouts out Retro, be it in an older, more moderate type of way. The rest of the designs say the same, & it looks very well put together, from quality metals. I like these, I'll try finding out more, it sounds like you need a few hundred spondoolies, to get one up on the board, ownership-wise. 8 ILbs, with half a tank; that's over three full bags of Tate & Lyle sugar (may as well call it four!) Crumbs, its like a tank. Will be searching, it'll be difficult to forget its name, because of the Stallone film (he he). Hope you get more photo's loaded, soon. Regards, Jon.
2000 might be a little early for these. I think the prototype might be that old but production models are all 21st century. These are modern lamps still being developed and produced. All pretty well hand built one at a time and you can own one by placing an order with Jake King along with about $375 and waiting for maybe three to five years for your turn. ::Neil::
Very nice, Neil, that's not big money (fair price), but it's joining the back of the cue & not forgetting to re-enquire, with follow up. Thanks for the info, will have another ganders, but for now, many rivers to cross with all the half built bridges, I've downstairs, piling up. (hey ho) Cheers, Jon.
Hail fellow CPL members. I really enjoy reading all the posts herein. I thought I would mention that I sell NIB Night Hawks on Mother Ebay under the user ID of: goldmanschoice I sell them for $400 each as they are horrifically expensive to manufacture. Jake & Mel King, his son, have made me their official Ebay Representative. They are honorable men and I can gain access to NIB units without the wait. Thank you, my direct email address is: globesearch@bigplanet.com I also have a few NIB NOS Work Horse Lanterns as well for sale. Mr. Goldman, aka Captain Mike De Long in Hampton Roads, Virginia.
Are you planning a little trip to Virginia to bring it back, Claus? - I don't think Captain Mike does international postage...
Well put David. Apart from the eBay text about not shipping outside the US, "Captain Mike" was very clear, even emphasizing it with upper case letters, in our trading forum here that he "DO NOT SHIP OUTSIDE THE CONTINENTAL UNITED STATES". I don't really care, but seriously... what an odd thing to write in a trading forum at an international forum...
Well, I think Captain Mike is persuadably to ship a lamp to Danmark if I ask him nice. But you assume too much here David. I am saving up for this lamp but I intend to use another contact, no offence Captain Mike Cpt. Mike also explained once, why he didnt ship to Europe and I do find his explanation digestable. Claus C
Good-oh, Claus - dare I also assume that your contact can get around the several years waiting list...
Hail all CPL members reading this. Hail David & Claus. I have two NIB Night Hawks aboard even as I type this. There is no waiting list for me with the Kings at Lancaster Lantern in Paradise, Pennsylvania. They make new units available to me immediately without the wait. The 'rub' with shipping abroad is dealing with all the associated paper work for US Customs. I refuse to do it anymore. Thank you, Captain Mike De Long in Hampton, Virginia.
CaptainMike, as a matter of interest for those of us not in the US, how much US Customs paperwork is there?
