This is the text of the message from Lisa. Hello All, This is Lisa, Steve's daughter. My Dad asked me to post here to let you know of any updates regarding his situation. Dad was taken ill very suddenly about 6 weeks ago with severe stomach pain. He was admitted to hospital and had some scans and blood tests etc and was diagnosed with a very rare form of bowel cancer. Unfortunately it had also spread as a secondary cancer to his liver. He was admitted for some chemotherapy last Friday, but they were unable to do it as his liver was failing and his bilorubin levels were too high, chemo would have been dangerous. Dad deteriorated very quickly, he was admitted again that evening and was still up and about and conversing and orgnaising and bossing the nurses around, but unfortunately he rapidly deteriorated even more over the weekend and passed away very very peacefully, in no pain last night at 9pm. He spent the last few days with my Mum, brother and myself around his bed and although he had slipped into a very deep sleep he knew we were there and how loved he was. He was a remarkable man who made an impact and achieved such a lot in his life and we will have a huge hole in our life with him gone. He burnt so brightly and faded so fast. If anyone would like to come to his funeral, it is next Friday 25th April at Weymouth crematorium at 14.30 followed by his burial at the Royal Naval cemetery at portland at 15.30 and the wake is at 16.00 at the Ocean Hotel and conference centre at Portland Bill. You are all more than welcome, he thought the world of you. kindest regards Lisa, Tim and Maggie x xx
It's certainly not going to be the same without him. He was without a doubt the life and soul of the party and will be sorely missed by all. I think we'll all join in lighting a lamp specially and raising a glass in his memory over the Easter weekend.
My sincere condolences. Our community is spread around the globe, but close in mutual affection and respect.
Very sad to hear that! Since the short time I have been joining this forum I've noticed him to be one of the most active members, so he will surely be missed by all of us. Farewell, Shed-Man, I'll light a lantern for you tonight. Martin
