Hi Jonesie (W), Here are the scans to the Unimet GL-3, it'd be a fine hand, if some design could be worked around to suit... Maybe it could still be drawn up, I sure would like to try applying my first water-slide de-cal. Up to press, I've only laid down stickies... . so if you still think it's worth a try; please do get back in touch, should your offer still stand. I'd gladly pay a fee for your work, it's quite impressive. Detail scans, follow :- Tank stripped, & dent damage, maybe there's another viewer or any advice from yourself, whether this point of damage, would be safe enough to lead-wipe onto the trailing edge of the dent, seems too near the base mount rim Now the Original de-cal detail .. . I'm just hoping these are enough for you to work off from ? I couldn't take them much closer, with out a blurring, I can try again though, should it be required . . . As I'd struggled prior, to find the best way to show you the shots, I thought this way would be the only possibility, for presentation; I can only wait on now,as you may have a few other orders, you're currently attending too.. . Cheers, Jon.
You could also have PT'd him for his E-mail address so you could send him the images that way. This way works too, but I split your post out of from the decal section. But if Jones will have the kindness to fix a decal for you from your pictures, it will have a given place of its own in the decal section.
I think I may also need one of those J.C. Higgins decals if they come to fruition. I'm not able to access the lantern currently so I can't check if it's the exact same decal I would need... I've used car-body filler on a couple of dented tanks in the past. It sticks well to bare metal, withstands flexing and copes with the heat - generally lamp tanks don't get as hot as car bodywork left in the direct sun. YMMV...
Hi David, I'm sure Fred Kuntz could try to help you out, with provision of a glossy/ sticky de-cal, for your little Higg's lantern. You'll hopefully already be in the know, to his own mailing address or contact details ect, (I don't know) ? It's Fred who sent me a load over (1st & 2nd series), one's larger than the other; I suspect the smaller one, is correctly meant for the Big Hat Higgins (I read in Coleman forum, tutha night), but I decided half unknowingly, to apply the larger series, to both the little'n & big'n, back when I was on with them. Have a natter with Neil Mc, unless you have the details, but failing this, I'll try find ect's, then post onto to you, in PT. Sorry if I'm bumbling on, I'm still not sure about Site etiquette/ ethics, ect. Check the loaded scan's below . . . & PS : I'd only included the JC de-cal, within this topic, just to high light the size ratio, to the ruler; hopefully it just leaves the 'picture frame' size, in no doubt, for a good weigh up, with Jones's (W) good eyes ? J.C.Higgins x 2, below (best to ask FK, for larger or smaller, as I'm crossed over, with which ever the 1st & 2nd series are ! LARGEST first : then the smaller one (hardly determinable), but they are obviously different, in your own hands. Hope you end up with what ya need ! Jon.
Thanks Jon. The lantern's in the back of the garage and the car's a bit in the way at the moment. I'm not driving at the moment but the lantern is very low priority in the scheme of things. Still, it would be nice to have the decal waiting for when I get around to it. Cheers...
It's Ok David, You'll be well up with de-cals, no doubt, but Fred's are sweet, & give a good grip on the tanks (recommended, from the little I know about them). Thanks for making note of my dented tank issue, I'm still undecided as to what to go for, though. It doesn't seem right to be adding plastic or fibre glass, ect, to metal tanks & wotnot. Though it'll be a much safer prospect, it'll niggle me that it's there . I'll have a further weigh up, then see if the water gets any clearer, through more pondering . I'm in no hurry to beggar another tank up, so it just might be that I take it to a proper lead-wiper (if I can find such skills, these days)? "still ongoing, blood hound-wise" Cheers, Jon.
Hi Christer, I just keep fumblin' through the sites pages, never really realizing which ways the best way to make contact. I think it'd be much better being a Forum member, but don't know the costs; I remember back before, being told a 'candidate' had or ought to make an annual subscription, but don't recall if it was a specific given amount, or an 'open' monetary donation ? Can feel a tad restricted, always having to try remembering what's 'possible', as a non-member (but registered forum site user), to being more in a position of being able to 'muck in', any where, ect. I get heartburn, when I end up being stumped, mid-flow, it does me head in a bit . I suspect, just where I'm typing from here, that this topic has now been moved from the de-cal section, over to the main fettling topic forum (& I'd be even more non-plussed, with out the two screens I'm lucky to have had set up) ? Is it :- (A member can use the full facility, within the de-cal dept, but a registered non-member then, must be able to have a 'natter', within a de-cal post, but just be unable to 'load' & 'send' scans, to other site users; whilst there) ? I'll have another look at David's link info/ regards CPL rules for members, I saw it somewhere in my topics list. Things have gone a bit quite, so I'm doing some of this ATM. Absolutely no idea how you can keep up with choreographing all the different subjects correctly, given the myriad of topics continually being raised & discussed, across the forums range of scope !? I'd like to be a member, I'll go steady on' & pay mind to not being a silly billy. Do please let me know what's required, ect (no great rush though, just be better for the migraine issues ). Ok, on with some more computing, I will now try loading my Tilley PL53 pic's, taken earlier this evening. . . . Thanks, Jon .
