Ok Matthew, I've still to get hold of that Panel Wipe, to test out ! It's cheaper than Naptha, so must find a local place, where it undercuts the 20 quid for the Naptha.

    Proper bottles or containers, makes 'sound sense';
I perish the thought of a milk bottle going up & out, with a flash, the bang & the ensuing injurious conclusions. I can imagine it being too quick' for the eye lid's to close fast enough, if haplessly feeling a tad lethargic, on a long fun day out, ect :!:

"Doom & gloom' mince pies, anyone " ?

Serious point though, paraffin's bad enough; I lost an eyebrow, lighting my first ever old lamp (an X246B). I pumped in too many strokes, on a derided vaporizer; which 'popped' like a T bag, just after switch on.
A strange calamity, the priming heat must have just tipped the balance, pin holing the dodgy tube, during initial expansion (over four holes appeared); but there were none visible, during the prior pressure test  .

    Cheers then  .
    Jon.

Just make sure you don't get the water-based version otherwise you'll be testing it a long time...

 , Ta for saving 'these', David ! I'd not known there were one with a water based ingredient, I'll be vigilant, but will ask the Car Auto's manager, of the difference's :?:

Sounds a bit odd, 'coz water attracts/ encourages rust, & that just doesn't do', for a newly sprayed car or wing panel. Should that same H2 o based panel wipe, fall under the same usages, that is ?

    Jon .

It'll be fine, [-o< I just need to rope someone into helping me up with the awning and gazebo again and we'll have plenty of shelter. There's always the bridge to stand under, but those arches always make me wonder when the river runs through.

As long as there's a supply of washers and spares I'll be happy...

Today is my last lamp foraging day before Newark so hoping to find something nice but will probably come back with yet another X246B :-s

Actually I now have to amend my earlier request...

Any bits that would help bring my Anchor 909 350CP back to life would be great

Wondering if I can make it now, my car has been off the road since before Easter, it may be back for the weekend but if not the caravan will stay where it is.

Can always use the tent but the misses may not like that, also wedding anniversary Friday.

Otherwise I will pop along Saturday. Its only 7 miles from my house so not difficult. Had 3 gold 246b's to light too.

Hemlock - what woman wouldn't want to spend her wedding anniversary in a tent! Well me for one, but at the same time I'm jealous of all you folks who are heading off to Newark this week. Weather forecasts I've seen today say it will be HOT by the week-end so maybe not the rain which was forecast last week.

    Hi Jean

It was very good last year, went for the first time, we both enjoyed it. Always hard to turn up at these things if you do not know anyone but I must say we were made welcome.

If I can get the car anniversary in the van will be fine, otherwise its going to cost me a meal out at one of our fantastic local resturants. How come it never costs her? 27 years this year.

I will give my lamps a wipe over just in case.

Why not come along, cheap rail tickets to Newark for the weekend are always available, I am sure one of us would pick you up from Northgate Station and drop you back.

    Nick

Nick, what a kind offer, thank you. John and I made our one and only trip in 2010, we have free rail travel so cost wasn't the issue but drive to nearest station, train journey from Aberdeen with 2 (or perhaps it might even have been 3!) changes took the shine off and of course we had to be home for cricket on the Saturday. We thoroughly enjoyed meeting all the people who were just names to us up to that point and they couldn't have been nicer. I am still in touch with a few of them - especially when I need to ask a favour.

Aberdeen to Newark 1 change, 6 hours. Leave at 9.07 and arrive at Northgate 15.17, Friday or Saturday.

Depart Newark Sunday on the 11.44 and get back 18.25 in time for tea.

Its all doable. Take a packed lunch.

Free rail! I'd be all over the country.

Raining for Newark today but tomorrow is designated a nice day. Weekend looks changable. By Election on Thursday so a relief when thats over.

You guys ok on the site? Did you get access to the showers or should we bring some smelly sprays for Saturday?

Hope the sun is still shining at Newark lads (and lassies?). I have just rescued an X246B from the scrap heap and got all the bits assembled ready to test drive this morning. Hoping to light up for real at dusk which will be later here than at Newark. Hope all goes well for the big light up.
