Hi all my Vapalux is burning slightly strangely ....
The mantle has some white areas but is mostly cherry red and there is a very light blue flame around the mantle so the light output is down
Worked perfectly when last used ?
    Light OK
The blue flame is reducing a little but can still be seen
I have tried reducing the pressure a little then pumped up again
    About 50/50 red and white
    Thanks for any thoughts

    Simon

Hello Simon, the usual cause of that problem is that the vapouriser's jet has become enlarged and if that is the case then you will need a new vapouriser, Jeff.

Hi Simon - You say it was running fine last time, how long ago was that?

Well the mixture is wrong for sure and maybe it is a worn jet but it could also be an air flow restriction. Check the air tubes and if they are clear then have a look under the dome of the burner to make sure the venturi tube has not unscrewed slightly and that the inner burner is clear. ::Neil::

Hi guys thanks for the thoughts
Last run a couple of days ago and all good ....
It did mostly settle but the mantle was quite red in places
Any tips on the best place to buy the tube with the jet in ?
Are there just standard ones or has anyone made one you can replace the jet ?or better wearing jets ?
What sort of life would expect from the jet ?

    Thanks again for the input

    Simon

There is no seperate jet, you have to replace the whole thing. You will at least have a spare cleaning needle when you do.

But before repacing it do check that the air tubes are clear of blockages and that there is no blockage lower down on the fuel intake pipe. A pipe cleaner or a peice of wire will clear any blockage.
