When I found a Petromax which filled all of my desires.. A heater, stove, and powerful 500CP lantern rolled into one I just had to have it.. It came with heating adapter, large pot ring, and original Petromax Special globe.. date code 3592
Hi there, welcome on board! Sure looks nice, hardly ever used I guess. These 500CP lanterns do produce a lot of heat, but don't expect to much of its cooking abilities. Handy to get (and keep) a kettle boiling though! Could you do a boil test for us? Best regards, Wim
Very nice. A real uber-lantern, with all the bells and whistles. I've wanted on for a while. Welcome aboard. Paul
Thank You for the welcome Wim 3.6 Liters 10º C Water, Ambient Air temp 30.5º C, 1 hour 10 minutes light boil, full rolling boil 1 hour 18 minutes.. Peerless 111 Sock Mantel only.. K-1 kerosene fuel.. Needed a pot of tea anyway..
Completed boil test using Heating Adapter with no mantel/sock installed shade closed.. 2 liters 8º C Water, Ambient Air temp 15º C 1860 meters above MSL full rolling boil in 45 minutes.. Do believe I get higher heat output with adapter.
CONGRATULATIONS! When I bring what I refer to as "The Blinder" to gatherings I get "Will you please close the door on that thing!" LOL! At about 500Ft above sea level I boiled 1 gallon of water in 56 minutes. This piece is part of my "bug out gear" for good reason. I have had many collectors who own one of these say that it is the BRIGHTEST lantern they own. Especially when burning a Peerless 111. :>)
