As I said in another topic I would put up a pic of the SDR I received yesterday when a friend of mine bought it over for me. Looking at Neil's info about these I assume its a Type2 ? not sure how you date these so maybe someone can enlighten me? This is how I received it so it's going to need some restoration so any tips/advice would be very much appreciated. I know the glass is wrong so I'll will try and find one or even get one made and I'm sure it's not going to be easy either way.

Yes that would be a type 2. Type 1 is a pork pie tank and type 3 was a special in Air Force Blue/grey sold to the Netherlands Waterways department but made with a post 1954 tank with the company name stamped in. Lamps from before 1956 are not date marked so we have to rely on style and parts to date things. Around 1954/5 Tilley started to stamp the tanks with Tilley England and the Owl logo. This lamp is not marked so is before 1955. From 1946 to about 1950 or 1951 SDR lanterns used the Pork Pie type tank BUT this style tank was also used before 1945. However I don't believe this double reflecting type was made before 1945. The other hint is the pump on yours if original is a mid 1950s type only made for a year or so which brings us back to about 1954 for your lantern. ::Neil::

I've seen a few Glasses in a shop recently and I'm wondering if any of them will fit my SDR? Does anyone know what the dimensions are?

I also found an SDR with an X246 globe fitted - a common bodge I guess :)

Sorry I don't have the size of the original globe but I do know that the 2081 glass fits and can be had from base camp although it is a bit of a snug fit in height and it is best to grind a few mm off the bottom to give it room to expand.

P.S. You can see my SDR with the 2081 glass fitted [url=http://0flo.com/index.php?threads/6957

    My SDR Globe (Type 1 - Pork Pie) is 118mm H x 114mm Dia.

I don't know if there is a difference between the type 1 and type 2.
