    Hi all
Ricently I wanted to buy pack of Tilley 164H mantle, but discovered it is not available anymore :(

I can simply use 164X instead, or is there a better alternative, probably still with rhodium (or what they put in there?)

    Thank you

Tilley 164X and 164H mantles are interchangeable. However, they're not meant for either Bialaddin or Vapalux. They do work, though if you can get them to stay on.

I recall it's the V42 mantle for your lantern...

Some people report that but I think it depends on your vapouriser. I have tried Tilley Happy Mantles in my 320's and they form lovely but are not as bright as the V42's.

The V42's tend to form a bit wonky no matter how I try to arrange them before burn off but they give a whiter light.

I have found that if your able to get the mantle to form at the optimum distance from the spigot you get much more light. I have done this by letting the bottom of a V42 mantle hang below the brass spigot, sort of around the vap tube and then burn off like this. The mantle formed much narrower and closer to the spigot and gave brilliant white light but the downside is it's so much more fragile and breaks easy.
