Hi all, last sunday, at a local small military swap meet I found this: Some details (including a curious cat , pesky thing! ) The photo with the patent N° is not clear; it reads 540783. As most will already have noticed, some parts are missing. Last photo says it all! Now, I bought it because even I could tell this is an early version, and it came with the globe-with-a-hole-in-it , so it cost less than buying a similar globe and have it posted to Belgium. Now what do you gents think, will it be possible to find all the missing parts? And, at a reasonable price? I can start to look at ebay, but one is never sure of the condition of the parts offered there... Or should I use this one as a parts donor? I'd hate to do that, really! Any advice is most welcome, also if anyone has parts for sale, please let me know! All the best, Wim
If it's a donor you are welcome to donate it to me... Seriously, this is definitly worth restoring. Someone here will possibly have a cap and the rest of the bits are relatively easy even if not original.
I think Base-Camp are still selling the gallery quite cheaply (yes - Part No. H64, £10.95). Also hoodcaps (H63 - £19.95). Alternatively, I think it's Juliands who's selling the reproduction hood-top - or maybe it's some Korean chap. A burner won't be difficult, nor will a vapouriser. What's the problem...
That's a very nice lamp and well worth restoation. An 'cap' will no doubt turn up before long and the vapouriser and gallery won't be hard to find and shouldn't be too costly... A nice find!
The parts you have look to be in very good condition and maybe Santa will bring you the bits that are missing. I hope you've been a good boy this year, Wim...
