Here is another hot beam, exactly the same as the one posted by Murray. I have restore it and try to get the right brown nuance. Not easy, brown is actually not a commom colour on cars and I have use spray touch up paint. The design of this heater is a bit special, not easy to fettle. I had to try 3 times before I got it right assembled at last. The guard is a reproduction I have make, thank you very much Murray for helping me with the measurements. The fount was original in cracked brown finish but as on many similar lamps badly worned so I descided to take it off and polish it up insted. 36226[/ATTACH]
I really like these "hot beam" heaters 8) & you have done a really super resto job on it , well done Bo Stu
No, I don't think I will try to start it. Neil sais it is a bit tricky to get running and I don't want to spoil the new painting by a fire. By the way, if you need advices for restoring yours, don't hesitate to contact me. It is important to assemble all parts i the right order. Bo
They are supposed to be instant-Lite. Apply a match and turn on. I could never get mine to start like that though. I used a blow torch through the small hole in the reflector to heat the generator but even then it often flared up before running smoothly. Not much chance of damaging the paint job though since most of the action is around the back of the reflector. In any case it would have been best to try to run it before restoring the finish. I normally can't resist and make things work before any restoration. ::Neil::
