This 241G dated December 1966 has been with me for a while and not much used. Some months ago we lit up and after an hour or so I noticed a small leak at the bottom of the fount. I soldered the leak but it soon developed another. So the lantern got stripped down and treated to the citric acid bath. Shake rattle and roll. The amount of debris that came out was shocking. Couldn't believe there was any metal left there. Anyhow, after giving the epoxy a good 2 weeks to cure, I re assembled. It lighted right up but soon dimmed and after working the cleaning rod it gave up altogether. Upon inspection I found the generator heavily varnished and the gas tip blocked. More citric bath and pricking got it right. Here I found a new trick. with the cleaning rod and spring removed from the gen, I injected the hot solution with a plastic syringe. To seal the connection I wrapped a bit of insulation tape on the end of the syringe. The gas tip had to come out and get cleaned with a piece of wire. Cleaning the citric solution off all parts with lots of fresh hot water and tried again. Magic! I do not know if it's the cleaned up fuel injection or the new type mantle, but this little guy has never before burnt so bright.

Pretty lamp, your hard work has been rewarded! I especially like the cut-out shapes on the hood.

I got a 12/64 241G, and it is one of my favorite lanterns. This one burns extremely silent and steady from about no pressure to tons of pressure - congrats on a great lantern! Looking good too! :D/
