    ...the new buzz-word for antique / vintage / retro / shabby chic / distressed / up-cycled / steampunk etc.

Correct curved bottom globe, too - would have been worth having just for that, except for the ridiculous price-tag... ](*,)

...except she meant 'complements' and 'Edison' - but yes, it's the sort of arty-farty, namby-pamby, airy-fairy bollocks that would appeal to the sort of people who would buy that kind of thing...

She's making a good profit, as apart from an AL-21, I've never paid more than £8.00 for a lamp at Ardingly. It does look quite good with that type of bulb though :-k .

I've no problem with it so long as the conversion is reversible - no drilling of tanks etc.

Just looked around our lounge and there are 18 lamps on display! It would be nice if some were routinely lit up. Will it get me banned from CPL if I say I may give this a go myself? I know it does not appeal to purists, but sometimes we have to balance our hobby with the wishes of SWMBO.

Over 30 in mine including heaters and a Tilley leak detector. I daresay I've probably not had more than a couple lit.

That's OK as long as you rescue the round-bottomed globe and replace it with the later angled-bottomed version...

Her price would seems quite reasonable compared to the 'repurposed' lamp coming up in auction this week with an estimate of £300 - £500!

"Repurposed" and all those other touchy feel-ey words are just nitwit words for "ruined someone
else's focus of interest for my profit".
I wonder how those same people would like it if others melted their antique bottle collections into
ash trays. Or, took their grandfather's watch and made it into some wonderful steam-punk-junk.
"Look, I fixed it into something useful!" (Or profitable.)

I thought I shouldn't mention which auction Matthew in case it drove the price up even further!

Oh dear, £85 quid for a vandalised lamp, missing most of its innards...

I like this stuff - all part of the fun. It would be tragic to see something rare butchered though.

I have an original Optimus electrified 1200 which was just their clever way of clearing some stock of lamps that had failed CQ apparently. I also have a blowlamp conversion desklamp with nice brass oyster shell shade. Both in regular use.

This is a monstrosity though. I spent some money at the place so felt comfortable expressing my opinion on it. The owner disagreed & thinks it's excellent!

If it's still there I can pick it up if anyone wants it! £125

Like taking a wild proud horse, tart it up with feathers, give it braids and make it go sideways with a woman on its back wearing a tophat.

Is this really true? Will this man give 125£ to the brave soul that wants to take this "thing" away? Do tell me when he's willing to pay more, then I might consider things....

    Best regards,

Pineapple will work - as long as the north end of a south growing variety of Pineapple is used... :D

Being acidolous is a good skill to possess where I come from David and I understood your comment the right way and I am yet to see anything sour from you
