So I came across a lantern with no other markings except for "tje diamond light" and a symbol of a diamond on the control knob. It looks similar toba nargus chase. Does anyone kniw anything about what I have found. ... sorry no pics yet
It may be an Akron Diamond lantern, but photos are needed and the link below shows the Akron page, Jeff. http://www.classicpressurelamps.com/forum/showgallery.php?fid/91/
Thanks Jeff. It's currently at a auction house due to sell tomorrow with a bunch of other things. So hopefully all going well I'll have a photo to post soon
I managed to find a picture of it on the auction places website well when I say picture you can just see a glimmer of it behind a box... Anyway looks a lot like a Akron Diamond 103G
That is a nice old Akron Diamond. Early 1920s or possibly pre 1920. Nice find and wants capturing. ::Neil::
Unfortunately I was not successful in the auction. I approached the winner to see if he wanted to sell just the lantern. . He was a bit hesitant and said he will ask his dad???? They must own a second hand business somewhere. So hopefully ill get a second chance
Good day today. The winner of the auction last week sold me the lantern for a reasonable price. Especially considering how rare it is in NZ I'll give it a simple clean and add it to the list to get going. Judging by the reference gallery this is a 103G. Is it possible to get new mica inserted?
Those are rare anywhere. Nice score. Now I want to see the burner please. There were two or three different types used and one is very rare. New mica? Easy, take dimensions and ask Fred for quote. Neil.
Likewise, but please post it in the reference gallery, preferably with many pics of the lamp and details.
That is a rare lantern and an excellent fettling project and I would also like to see more detailed photographs, Jeff.
