    Hi,
Could anyone help with dating a petromax lamp that I,ve just aquired.
It's an 829/500cp super Petromax Rapid. It has a G without the E in the middle of the crest stamp (althogh the glass has the E in the middle,And says Petromax special
It has 0722 stamped on the bottom. The pump handle is black, as is the control cock wheel. the tank looks to be nickel plated on brass? although I'm not sure how much else is brass. It also says original, made in germany, and regd in a few places. It's in good nick although nickel plate on tank is abit pitted (can it be stripped back to brass or re-plated easily?)Its my next project, best make some room in the shed.

    Hi Michael,
    an image would help.

Do not care for the logo on the globe - they are still made today with the E&G logo.

    Thanks for reply,
Tried to upload images, and for some reason after only tring one image Im being told that it exeeds the 97.66 kb limit, and one image is 710 kb.... I hate computers.Im probably doing something wrong but I'm not to clued up with technology ... thats probably why im into lamps, good old fashioned lamps.
    I'll try something else out.

Hello Michael, try using the image optimiser, it's okay for photos, the link is below and the tab for it, is at the top of each page of this website, Jeff.

    Hi Michael,

i think it could be a 60´s. Then the 0722 on the bottom would say: 07th week, 1962, 2nd day (of the week).

The pump handle and control wheel became black-brown over the years, new was blue.
On later lamps from China there is only -Germany- instead of -Made in Germany-

    Mat

Thanks For the responses, they've been a big help, And thanks Doron for the link to your site, it's been a massive help in preperation of the restoration. So far I've only tackled a few Vapalux's and Tilley's so the advice top dollar.
.....Now.... does anyone Know where I can get some Elbow Grease? lol
