G’day, recently we have had a lot of rain and this was followed by a bit of a blow that caused many trees to fall over and knock down the electrical power lines in the area (we were really hammered). My pace was without electricity for 6 days. Whilst it was a little inconvenient Kerosene reigned supreme in this house. Out came the lanterns and stoves. Between the two lanterns there was more than enough light.
Along with a stew cooking on the wood burning heater we stepped back in time for a while and were very comfortable.
Here are a couple of pictures inside the house eliminated by Kerosene.

The lantern on the sideboard is a Kayen AP2 and the other is a Tilley 246B. The stove on the right is a Companion silent burner.

Fantastic, lovely photos and beautiful setting.

We had a similar experience back in March of 2013 for six days when there was a very unexpected fall of snow that pulled down a lot of power lines in the west of Scotland. Fortunately had plenty of light in the form of Tilleys and some wick lamps. Also had an open fire so was able to do some cooking on that and a pot of coffee was always on the go. And at the end of it got compensation which went towards the next bill in a big way.
