Hello everyone, I have just become the proud owner of 4 colemans, 3 unfired an 1test lit, 1971 335 new, 1974 639 lit, 1981 201 new, 1995 214a new, unfortunately i only have a phone to do all my business on so photos are beyond my understanding to send, here is my question, I have noticed that the 201 has a positive fuel shutoff valve even though its paraffin yet the 214a doesn't so does this mean that the 201 can be run on petrol? Maybe the generator has to be changed if I'm right what generator is the replacement, any information would be brilliant, all the best to you all, Paul.
Hi Paul, I have run a recently owned 201 on 100% petrol (Coleman fuel) with no issues at all. If you want to change the generator to a correct gas generator, you'll need a 200A generator. Here in the US, we occasionally run what we call a Amish blend through our kerosene lanterns, which is about 70% kerosene and 30% Coleman fuel. Have fun, Dan

Yes a 201 will run on gasoline but it will not like unleaded so you would have to find a naphtha such as Panel Wipe or Aspen 4T. The other slight issue is that being a kero burner it will not Instant light which means it will allways want preheating. That being the case it makes no sense to run it on any form of gasoline. Better to use the kero it was designed for. ::Neil::
