I have taken I didn't take my camera so these were taken by a phone. It gives a rough idea of the collection I saw today.

    I'm wearing the Akubra.

A Wizard made box holding the pressure tank. It is then hooked up to the Wizard lights above.

You get the drift though I'm sure.

    Lol.

I think you'd be impressed with his stoves Tony.

I don't know much about stoves, just a little less than lamps. What I didn't know was Austramax made stoves until I saw one today.

Many other Tilleys that I will get photos of next time. His Tilley collection is something else. I haven,t even heard some of them mentioned until today.

With apologies to Crocodile Dundee, I can see him saying, "Now THAT is a collection!"

OMG how impressive, I dare not ask if they all work, for fear the answer might be YES.

A broad based astonishing collection. How lucky you are Matty to have seen it.

    Iain,

I was indeed lucky. The bloke is a champion too.

I wish I had of taken a photo of the cabinet with 8 or so different Glorias lanterns in there.

Some of the Gloria heart lamps and wall lamps are incredible. He has what he thinks is an Italian made wall lamp that is stunning.

What you see here is only about half.

Aladdin 1As', painted red, light green, black (seen before) and another colour I can't think of were great to see.

I really liked the Blanchard (spelling) that is pictured in this topic.

Actually, can anyone tell me what is the name of the unit in the second photo posted?

That is very nice as is the Gloria heater.

    Pete,

I'll do that just for you :)

It was a sight to behold to see those 3 SL's together. He has a 4th that needs some attention.

I'm not sure if you or any other long term collector would be amazed as I was with his other Tilley products as you have probably seen them before or even own one. I can tell you, I just couldn't believe how wonderful some of his smaller Tilley industrial lights, and indoor lamps etc were. Ones I didn't know existed though that's no real surprise.

Matty - WOW what a wonderful collection. Did he have many Colemans? Also were all of these lamps/lanterns found in Australia - or were lots imported from England? You are very lucky to have seen this collection in person!! Thanks Peter

He had many, many Colemans' of all descriptions. From very old Coleman table and wall lamps to even quite recent ones he has picked up cheaply from markets etc. Lot's of varying storm lanterns. I mean lot's :)

I believe most of his lamps, have been sourced in Australia. Whether or not someone else had originally sourced them from overseas, I guess we will never know.

Matty, your heart must have dropped into your stomach when you walked through his doors. Who could expect to walk into that. More than impressive. I hope you suggested he should join CPL...

Great to see a Kayen HR20 (Tilley R22 copy) with decal intact. First one I have seen and are surprised how different to the R22 it is.
Is there other variations of the R22 that don't have the 6 screw holes in the front?

PS. and what is that next to the TV

Anthony, you are asking the wrong bloke :) I know you are only thinking out loud and perhaps someone else can help you.

I didn't go back and look at the pictures. What I can remember being near the TV on the left hand side of it was an original Tilley advertising poster. Is that what you meant?

Hi Matty, the R22 question was just a throw out there question for any one with an answer/comment and I was curious about the lamp on the right of the TV.

Really jealous of your excursion too..

Most of the lamps in that area were Australian Gloria. I hadn't heard of most of the lamps until yesterday, it was all too much to take in, in a few hours.

Another amazing thing about his collection is all the original shades from things like Gloria, AGM, Wizard etc.

My feeling is, probably. Perhaps not as comprehensive but I'd bet large just the same.
