This is a MEWA lantern although some were marked as HASAG. Made in Eastern Germany. It is probably model 351 or 551. ::Neil::

From what I read elsewhere they are quality control ratings given to the lantern. I'm guessing it would get a rating after being completed and inspected. They would then select the appropriate hood nut that has been pre-stamped with the appropriate quality and put it on. I'm happy to be corrected.

A transalator spat out this: Special class for very good quality

The numbers referr to the admission for east german road service.
I am not sure if the transaltion is correct. But they mean that the lamp may be used in/for transportation works.

Thanks for the correction. I went back and re read the translated forums. Something must get lost in the translation as what I read appears to speak about quality for different markets.

I'd rather doubt a online translator than you so I'm happy to believe the marks relate to the transportation works as you say.

    One fellow provided this:

    Hello Harald,

The industrial and / or handicraft products of the German Democratic Republic of the TGL-quality provision
TGL have complied with 3933, were with a particular quality mark provided. It is a distinction between the following grades
    been:

    Excellent quality
Quality mark Q (top products, above the average of the World market, since the early 1960s)

Special class for very good quality
(Forerunner of the quality mark Q until the early 1960s)

    Grade 1 good quality
(Products which corresponded to the average of the world market)

    Grade 2 for sufficient quality
(Products for the intended use, but not the
Average of the world market corresponded) (was rarely applied)

Looks kind of like a tired out vaporizer. Maybe needs a new jet? I'd clean it out first and see.

I reckon that the vapouriser's jet is enlarged, Jeff.

Yep 1,5 BAR would be a good pressure.

But what are you burning ?
    Kesosene / gasoline ?

Did you check the vaporizer ? Is the mesh inside still there and clean ?
