This is the first of this range of economy 250cp keosene lanterns. This one is dated 3 49 and they were illustrated in a 1950 Canada Cooleman catalogue. This is the A version with an aluminium hood. Model 241B looks the same but has a chrome plated brass hood. They have no shut off valve and have a pressure release in the filler. The pump check valve is a spring loaded European type. There are no markings on the collar which is not normal for Coleman so there is no indication of the model on the lamp. ::Neil::

Yeah I just love these small Colemanb lantens with that type of hood. This one is not common although I do know maybe three have turned up in the UK. The 241G has turned up in New Zealand maybe twice in the past ten years. Cute, simple, stylish and they work. Don't get much better than this. ::Neil::

Very, very nice. Is that a spirit cup on the generator tube? What is it like getting it lite. Do you disassemble, light, and reassemble?

I did take it appart to clean but lighting is easy enough. There is a larger hole in the base plate for adding alcohol to the spirit cup and for inserting a match. You can just see this in the first image. You need a long spout spirit can and then a long match. I use a Coleman plastic alcohol bottle and a small blow torch to reach a flame in to the cup. Wait a minute or so and open up then pump. ::Neil::
