I have this clay burner and have no idea what mantle it is meant to have. Came from a Tilley LP gas light. Any info would be appreciated.

Which one? I have a good few odd Tilley mantles and could check the packets for which models they fit...

Um, yeah, I forget which model that was. Mick will know - he cannibalised one to make some sort of tracklamp IIRC...

He had one for sale at Newark this year as well. I later spied it in the back of someone else's car, no name dropping. ;)

Looks like model GL.605 which could be fitted to a bracket stand (No. 841) or a tubular stand (No. 597). In July 1962, the lamp was 79/6 (£3/19/6) and either stand was 10/6d each.

The ceramic is Part No. 2084, mantle is 2085, nipple is 2088 and the glass is 604. I've checked my mantle box and I don't have any 2085s...

    Hello,

You can use a two tie mantle.
So a mantle with two strings.

Hi ! Mick might know ?

But that was my lamp I sold at Newark to Longgelly for sixy guid !

I have seen this up right ceramic burner on other lamps the stalk is very fragile and on top of stalk is a pointed arrow shape and small metal disc with slot cut into it. I guess the disc is placed inside the mantle and when lighting or setting of mantle every thing shrinks to hold in place.

The version before or maybe after in the gas lamp AL21 look alike contest hung downwards.

    Bullfinch mantles . Mini-Flood no. 1228

Thanks for that. Did find the Bullfinch mantles on ebay (thanks Mick) but I don't have the small metal disk with slot. Is this disk some thing that comes with the mantles or will I need to improvise? Do we know what the disk looks like?

Sounds like you have some paper work there David, is it on CPL?

Rather than open another thread on lp gas lights I though I'd just ask here. I have a couple of BT25s and have run one using a Liberty mantle and was impressed with the brightness of it. While looking into the GL605 I found these 'Double Walled Mantle Tilley No. 1646' for the BT25.
Question is are the doubled walled any brighter or are they made for strength?

    Again thanks to all.
