I got this off ebay about a year ago and don't really know what it is or what I'm missing. I have made it run but not that good. I made the mantle I am using from a Petromax style. I believe it is Nulite but can't seem to find any information on it or a picture of what it SHOULD look like.

Hi Greg, Very cool lamp. It's a Turner Brass Works Little Wonder. It goes back to 1901. I'm surprised there is not a brass tag on the bottom of the tank identifying it as such. Below is an ad from the 1902 World Almanac. Here's mine. It really is a high CP output lamp and would like a tall upright mantle at least 4" high. The glass globe in it at the moment is a "test" borosilicate tube and the smoke bell is a replacement. With the right glass (I think), it looks like this, although originally they were advertised without glass. Perhaps because at the time they broke too easily. Yours is in nice condition, has the right glass, and other than the reflector and smoke bell, looks complete. Dan
Where did you get your replacement reflector? Looks like that is all I need. Well that and a couple mantles.
Greg, the reflector is original. It came to me with the lamp. Graham, this is an under generator type burner. The heat from the heavy brass burner radiates down into a chamber just above the control valve. The fuel is vaporized there and exits the jet where holes in the side if the burner provide the proper air mixture. This is kind of like how gasoline blow torches vaporize fuel. The heat from the blow torch heats the brass burner body in which is bored out a simple passageway where the fuel is vaporized. As we know Turner was a very prolific blow torch manufacturing company at the turn of that century and perhaps this is where they got the concept for a pressure lamp generator/burner. Dan
Could I get some good pictures and measurements of the reflector? I would like to complete this lamp and use it more often.
