The link won't play properly, but I saw this program recently. If I'm correct, this where a group of Inuit folk go under the ice when the tide is out to gather mussels. I recall that the lamps were propane lamps which used small camping canisters of that gas, Jeff.
Played OK for me - you have the correct clip, Jeff. You'd have to be darned hungry to risk that for a few mussels. Yep, some sort of small propane lantern minus the globe and hood. I bet they go through a few mantles like that!
wow - risky form the light-up and close up photos I would guess there are two lanterns there Coleman exponent 229 at the beginning and a Coleman 285 at the end. the light-up of a gas lantern is instant and the flareups in the beginning indicate a gasoline lantern both are missing the vents and globes. 229: 285:
Well I think you may be correct, Doron and I had exactly those same thoughts myself. I concluded, though, with time being so short, they probably wouldn't want to mess about with liquid-fuelled lanterns. Seeing stills of the lanterns does seem to confirm it, however...
