    I was uncertain if it was a pressure lamp or not but after I opened the tank it revealed all.

    Hi Astro,

    It appears to be a simple center draft wick style burner. It's missing the chimney and flame spreader and part of the wick raiser mechanism appears to be missing too.

    Interesting mob are Chance Bros and Co of Birmingham.
    Around in 1880. Very prominent in their field(s) in 1884.

    A very historic lamp.
