    G,,day
i got one the other day . cheap .
it is modern , but it is nice to keep up with new stuff.
    overall , i am fairly impressed .
electronic light , good for light in a hurry .
    long burn time ,
a cage to protect the globe .
and the globe is sprung mounted so it does not rattle
    adjustable for brightness.
and it is a bright lantern !

i can only find genuine Coleman mantles for it ,
but a single tie will still give you light .

for a quick give me light lantern , because the power is out .
    i like it .

it lacks the fun of preheating etc . but it was not meant for that .

Hi Kerry, just watched a youtube clip about this lamp, as you say for a quick give me light lantern, it's a beauty.

Not me - I've got one although I haven't seen it for years. Cost me all of £12 at a car-boot sale but the electronic ignition doesn't work (I think this was an Achilles heel of this lantern). I recall I lit it OK by conventional means and it was bright enough. The tubular mantle was a bit of a pain because you cannot just bung on any single-tie 500cp type you have lying around.

One day I'll find it and use it again... [-o<

David . maybe the battery needs replacing
    an AAA battery

i agree the mantle is a pain .
but they will and do work with most single tie mantles .
just not as well as with the correct one .

    cheers

That's what I thought/hoped but no luck. The electronic cartridge is easily removed and replaced (cynically, I wonder why) but the cheapest I've seen them is on eBay at £16 i.e. more than I paid for the lantern.

It's so long ago that I played with this lantern, I was a newbie to Coleman and didn't realise any other type mantle could be used - thanks for the info. But I prefer to have things looking like the manufacturer intended, anyway...
