Somthing happened today, one of thouse coincedences that is so strange one thinks some devine intervention is behind it.

Anyhow, I was eating my sandwish and coffe at work, as i have done hundreds of times before when it happened. We have this lady from the middle east that does all kind of stuff at work. Among other things setting the table for the coffee break.

It "just" happened that this is now, when my focus is on kerosene lamps (for prepping resons).

She aproached me yesterday and asked me on swedish arabic if i could fix a kerosene lamp and stove?? -Ehh sure i said.

    Today she bringed the goddies.
One Optimus 200 in fine condition and one huge optimus 531 stove.

She told me that she during her time in the middle east lived and raised her two kids in the light from this optimus lamp and fed them from food from this stove...
She obvius has alot of centimential value connected to these items and wanted them overhauled.

    Whats the odds of that?

Her son, now in his teens, thought it was all a pile of junk, but i assured her otherwise :)

Sounds like a very nice project. I don't know anything about stoves but I know the 200 will not be that hard to fix. Hopefully, the tank is not cracked, and all you will have to do is over haul with new seals and gaskets - and of course a new mantle.
Good luck. This will be a nice project.

    Cracked tank can be soldered.

531 is simple flame thrower so it's also easy to get running. Just tell them that it's piece of junk and I'll pay the postage to send it here.

    Hi all.

Well, i serviced the stove and the lamp and handed them over to a happy woman today along with some instructions and a lesson including a testburn of the both. Included was also two printouts of some auctionresoults for the same items where the stove went for aprox 2500:- SEK and the lamp for 1300.- so she could show the kid back home... Here is a pic of the 200 lamp in action.
