I have just picked up a Tilley globe that was advertised in our local rag. It is cylindrical clear glass about 4.5" diameter and has "Tilley 2081 Heat resistant" marked on it. It was wrapped in a newspaper from 1966 and is in "as new" condition. I was going to use it for as a "clear" globe for my Anchor but it is slightly too big. What lamp does it come from? Is it worth anything at all or are these in abundance?
That globe is from a Tilley LPG lantern. It will just about fit a Tilley SDR but it is just a tad too big and is a tight fit on that lantern. ::Neil::
Thank you for that, I'll see what i can find out about a Tilley LPG then. I've heard and seen Fllodlights but not an lpg lantern.
Mick might know the lantern concerned but I don't. Handy globe to have though because finding the right globe for an SDR is not easy and this will fit. ::Neil::
Some time ago I found out which lantern that globe was for and posted here. Unfortunately I can't remember which lantern it was now, and probably can't find the post. I'll check my Tilley paperwork and see if it comes to light again... Edit: Thank you, God - the 2081 globe fits lantern models GL602, GL700 and GL701 according to the July 1962 propane/butane price list; price 3/6d if you're interested...
