Now that the auction's over, I guess it's safe to post this. To my unknowing eye, it looks like someone's been spraying an X246B tank red and then playing around with what's been left over in the bottom of the can. On the other hand, someone was prepared to shell out over a hundred quid for it. What does the team think..?
I know of 2 long term collectors who have red shades and there is another reddish shade listed on Ebay just now. It's from a different seller than the one in David's link and it looks to be more pink than red, but it may have been used more. I also know of a collector who has a blue Tilley shade. I have not seen any Tilley paperwork which mentions those red or blue shades, but it's possible that a coloured range were made to match the various the vase lamps.
