Found this lot at a Car Boot for a total of £60, along with a chrome X246B with a wobbly base. There's two Amiga 500s, and Amiga CD32, an Amiga 500 hard disk drive (rare), a 3DO and a bunch of other stuff. The real score is that Macintosh Quadra 840AV. I saw one of those listed as "for parts" go for $400 on eBay.com (mind you, its retail price in 1993 was $4699).
I don't collect it, but i do still have my first pc., which has Windows 98 on it and it still works and i obtained a Cube recently which is one of the bare bones series of computers.
No but when my laptop died I took it to a repair shop and when I put it on the counter the reaction was " come and have a look at the vintage lap top " this was to the team out back. I just wanted it fixed as it was just fine for me, the rest is a long storey and not what this thread is about. Cheers Rob
Wow I used to have an A500 back in the 90's. Ran like a clock and always impressed the friends with its graphics and sound stuff. Never saw one of those drives like that. Rare indeed. Nice copy of Subwar 2050. Was really fun to play and taught me the concept of thermoclines in the ocean. Nice haul.
I've still got a bunch of Sun Sparcstations and SGI Indys on a shelf in the garage. Pizza boxes and Lunch boxes for the Unix gurus out there
I went through more than one Timex Sinclair (16k also) before stepping up to a Tandy 1000 (sn. 000001699) I personally despise buying a lot of I.T. technology since it's just reserving an expensive hole in a landfill someday. I'm getting ready to replace the CPU cooling fan in a friend's laptop today since I can at least keep them running longer than most. I use an XP (SP3) machine that is over 10 years old. I regret that I don't think that it's going to be serviceable much longer since more and more apps demand Windows 7 or later. My one foray into the world of Macs was a PowerPC Mac Mini, and that was a huge disappointment when they switched to the Intel chip set. I collect classic lanterns now
