Could be as the globe states
not all lanterns were issued by CPR as far as I know and some were bought by the workers themselves
especially in the transition from wick to mantles

This latern was found with this globe on it.
This lantern could be a CPR. Very hard to cofirm.

Here is what Matthew Reid , said about this lantern after i found it.

The globe if etched is certainly is a CPR globe.
This would be a very early Globe before they changed their glass etching script to the more blocky style.
I have seen this same font (etching) used on other CPR glassware.

If there are no markings on the lantern either Stamped or Engraved then chances are nine to ten it is not from the CPR. But you never know. It could be a Lantern purchased by the CPR before the 247 CPR's were being made and never stamped.
Of course the CPR would have been using Coleman Lanterns Before they bought them en bulk for the Cabooses.
Generally Canadian Railways stamped everything they owned. Cans tools (hammers screwdrivers wrenches shovels etc) Pots, pans silverware etc.. If it could grow legs and walk away they generally stamped it.
The globe was possibly liberated from a CPR 247 and used on this Lantern. OR it may be a CPR Lantern, but with no stamping there is no way to say one way or another .

    Matthew

Any info on this old Scout is welcomed.

It wouldn't hurt if you explained strange abbreviations in the initial post.
I did ofcourse realize pretty quickly that this lantern wasn't used to resuscitate people with (which on the other hand would have been quite a sight, and would explain the cracked glass), but it took me until the last post to understand that CPR probably had something to do with Canadian railways.

Canadian Pacific Railway.Rather rare and much sought after lanterns. Having been owned by a railroad known for it's rugged route thru the wilderness of Canada, Good examples are hard to find. Tilley work lamps are the same way. Dan

Oh, well... Really nice lantern, regardless which company used it.
No 247 and similar types are the best looking lanterns from Coleman in my opinion.
A bulgy globe can never be wrong!

But I prefer the nickelplated ones.

Sorry for not explaining that CPR means Canadian Pacific Railway.

Agostino, Nothing to beg excuse for.

I'm sure you would have realized that SJ means Statens Järnvägar or that OT means Orusttrafiken, so nothing to be sorry for. ;)
It's just those others who visit here we need to bother about! Don't forget that this is an international forum, and there might be some that don't know all Canadian or Swedish abbreviations.

    ???
A hockey game that Canada unfortunately managed to win against us... Well, that's quite incoherent to me in aspect to this topic...
What are you trying to say here?

Christer I have a hell of a time with the Abbreviations nowadays and My Father must be rolling in his grave. He never allowed us to shorten any word. Dan PS. Agostino is just poking fun at you. He is a very nice guy. (For a Canadian) :D :D :D

    Likewise!
We'll meet you in Bratislava on may 15. That's when it comes to it. ;)

Christer You are a nice guy as well. I find this to be the biggest problem with the written word,it doesn't show the writers tone or intent. I know Agostino from The True North Forum and he doesn't seem to have a bad bone in him. Now to answer Agostino's question I am Dan Leeds formally from Old Town Coleman forum and Classic Camp Stove and Be Back Later I gave the new owners of Old Town the old up yours! and Joined True North.I have to say I have been with CCS the longest. A good bunch,Ross and his gang. DanL

Dan, you are absolutely correct. You miss alot in the communication when you're not face to face with the other person.
But we have our smilies. They can't replace real expressions and body language, but they help.

Well said. I can hardly wait for it to start.
But I'm a bit surprised you're so interested in the World Championship. I thought it didn't mean very much to you guys over there. Atleast the US-people seems quite uninterested in the championship compared to the leagues back home.
I guess I figured it was the same with Canada.

The interest for international competitions is much more followed here in Canada then the US.
The US is not a stable market for hockey. Some areas (Mostly North) have always had great interest in Hockey ( Boston, NY,Chicago..Baseball, Football ect.. lots of competition in the US.
Here in Canada its just hockey , hockey and hockey!! lol. Many cities here in Canada have lost their NHL teams (even though the arenas were full, like Winnipeg and Quebec city. They had brought those teams to the US for the money, but the arenas are empty during the games...
Now Quebec city will get its team back !!

International competition is also televised all the time. Young players play those tournaments. Not NHL players during the season , especially the playoffs are coming up.
