Just as I found it and with the addition of a burner end cap and mantles. The pump is one I happened to have already. No sign of stress cracks or leakage of any kind and it lit up, albeit poorly, with not much trouble.
Well done, those Generators are scarce and the shades are only 2 3/4"top dia and a lot of shades do not fit.
That's good news Jean and the lamp may get brighter if it's left on for a while. Lamps require a certain constant temperature to operate properly and fitting a shade or a globe helps that happen. It may need more pressure and your pump is a Coleman.
Thanks Jeff. We only left it on long enough to get pics so I take all your comments on board. One mantle was ruined during an earlier try so only have one in reserve until I buy some more. The lamp did have a shade when I bought it but I think it was an Aladdin (chipped anyway) so did not fit, as you say Graham. I will keep on looking for a shade but doubtful I will find one.
Nice Work and lamp Jean. It looks bright White and much younger than its age - must be that womens-touch Claus C
Almost forgot, found a shade in USA a few months ago. It was on an oil lamp but seller agreed to let me have shade only. Posted it to my son in NJ who sent it on to me. Very pretty colour and great condition, finishes lamp off nicely.
Jean, I agree but lamps seldom come with shades and replacements, even reproductions, are usually costly. I console myself with the fact that you can get more lamps on a shelf without shades than you can with them on. Henry.
At the last count I have 19 shades, mostly Tilley pre and post war plain, coloured and decorated. The others are Coleman, Aladdin and that pretzel one. Yes, they do take up some space but my collection of lamps is tiny so I can cope with them.
