Hi all, I bought two of this unknown Lilor lamp years ago and till now they have mostly served as Lilor Lor burner donors. Decided to get at least one of them going and here is the result. Equipped with a 150 CP Lor burner this exterior lamp from probably the 30,s is still a mystery. This Lor burner have some differences compared to the ones that are suited on other Lilor lamps of mine. The control knobs are larger and are made of metal instead of the usual bakelite you suppose to find. The control rods for fuel has a larger thread diameter and both control rods have different connection nuts than the usual ones. The brass nozzle is also much larger and I hade to make me a home made mantle holder, as no one of the ones I have, did fit. I can't find this lamp in any catalogue. It is for sure an outdoor exterior lamp shown by the protective wire net around the globe shade. Maybe it would have had an exterior type of lamp housing, like a street lamp or something. Attached you find a composite image of three catalogue versions of the 4072 Lilor outdoor "street/wall lamp". The latter version have a Lor burner and a tank , but not like this one. If anyone have further information of the lamp, it would be interesting hearing it. /Conny
Nice lamp Conny. Yes it must have been a in-build lamp for a chassis of some kind - elsewise it would not be very userfriendly. Claus C
Conny, Firstly what a beautiful lamp and so well presented. Secondly, I think by looking at this lamp and your outdoor lanterns you included, it's quite a good design as I think it suits two purposes. I think the tank that comes with it would be used if you only have the one light or didn't wish to link the light to a hollow wire plant (larger tank stored elsewhere). If you used more than one in various parts of your house or had a number of the lanterns lighting say your driveway, I think it would have been more likely the tank that came with the lights would be removed and the lights/lanterns would have been connected to a much larger lighting plant tank. That tank would have been stored in a basement or perhaps outside with a purpose built enclosure around it.
