    Hello,

Yesterday I was fettling on 3 Primus 991 lanterns, one I had for some parts to complete the other two. Then I saw they have two different hoods. The one with the'normal'hood is stamped in the bottom AL3(1947), the other one X29(1933)has a different type hood. Conny C. has placed in the gallery a brass version with the same type hood, his lantern is also stamped X29 (1933).
When did Primus start with the production of 991 lanterns and when changed Primus the type of hoods?

The 991 was introduced in 1933 (or at least there is no proof that it was any earlier). What differences are you thinking of with the hood? There are differences with the top cap and the rim. There were some changes in 1934 and again in 1954. You also get small colour variations over the years.

    hello Nils,

That was what I meant, the rim is not sharp but bended, and the middle of the enamel hood is slimmer then the later versions.
The colour, like you said is indeed variable over the years.
Today I'm going to test these lanterns, I hope they will light up easy without problems.

They're Primus, so if the jet is alright then there should be no problems. :)
