Does anyone happen to have a parts list and diagram for a Coleman 239 that they could send me?
The lantern I have is missing some parts such as the eccentric block. I'm thinking that these should be generic and I should be able to use one from a 236, would that be possible?
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

239???? We have no paper of any type for Coleman 239. That is a seriously rare lantern and I only know of one example with any collector. Do you mean 249 perhaps? ::Neil::

I'm enquiring on behalf of an avid collector who I'm encouraging to join up so he can post photos. He states that it is a 239a made in 1940.

OK well that is a seriously rare lamp with a lot of unique parts. Never seen in any catalogue and only one parts list from 1947. We know of 6 of these 238-239-240 series lanterns world wide and of those 3 are model 239A.
All we know about them is from the one list of parts and the lanterns with collectors.
From the list below you will see that the eccentric along with many other parts is unique to the series so I doubt another lamp part will fit. It may be possible to alter or adapt another part though and maybe an eccentriuc from a 236 will do the job. You can only try.

I want to see images of this lamp and I want to know who owns it and where it was found. Up to now all the 239As are in Australia. ::Neil::

Thanks Mackburner that is useful info as the collector has a 238b, which I see on this parts list shares the same control valve as the 239a. He will be able to reproduce copies from the 238b. I have asked for pics and will post these if he is forthcoming. With any luck he will join the forum.

Hi Mackburner, you will see I have posted pics of the lantern in the reference gallery. It would appear to me to be a 239a and it is unfortunately missing its generator.

Yes I agree it is a 239A and whilst it is a pity the generator and pricker control are missing I think these parts can be adapted from lamps with similar parts such as Petromax and Coleman. Not sure how compatible P'Max threads might be but that is just engineering and can be dealt with. The difficult bit might be the generator jamb nut. If a P'Max will not fit then the generator will have to be cut to remove the German part and a new nut inserted and then the generator will have to be welded. Worth the trouble though because this is only the fourth example of 239A I know of so it is seriously rare and therefore valuable. More so if it can be completed and made to run. ::Neil::
