    Hi all,

This lantern is a rare beast, I only know of two examples and they are here with me.
Made by Pinchard/Paris probably around 1930, but there are no dated papers from this company, so we really don't know for sure.
    Bo Ryman posted a Pinchard & Moreau 4-page leaflet 40856[/ATTACH] 1453742923-Pinchard_lantern_2.jpg 1453742941-Pinchard_lantern_lit.jpg 1453743251-Pinchard_lantern_parts.jpg 1453743292-Pinchard_lantern_burner_parts.jpg 1453743311-Pinchard_lantern_burner_assembly_and_tank.jpg 1453743370-Pinchard_lantern_cage_with_mica_and_burner_generator_and_ceramic_nozzle.jpg 1453743389-Pinchard_lantern_mixing_chamber_and_top_view.jpg 1453743417-Pinchard_lantern_Mixing_chamber_with_squared_air_intake_tube.jpg 1453743472-Pinchard_lantern_manometer.jpg 1453743509-Pinchard_lantern_pump.jpg 1453743705-Pinchard_lantern_tank_valve_control_and_bottom_cage.jpg 1453743569-Pinchard_lantern_with_asbestos_pre_heater.jpg 1453743837-Pinchard_lantern_with_original_asbestos_pre_heater_and_mantle.jpg 1453743892-Pinchard_lantern_matle_pre_lighting.jpg 1453743905-Pinchard_lantern_alcohol_pre_heating.jpg 1453743938-Pinchard_lantern_Ouragan_papers_and_my_lantern.jpg 1453743965-Pinchard_lantern_hanging_on_a_branch_of_an_apple_tree.jpg 1453743984-Pinchard_lantern_in_snow_before_a_hazle_bush_with_lights.jpg

yes, to give a production's date for Pinchard's production is difficult.
Here is a page of the "Larousse Ménager" dated 1921 which gives an idea.

 Great stuff Michel. At least we can date our papers to early 20,s and my Pinchard lantern maybe to early, or mid 20,s. Thanks!

Very stylish neat lamp - and oldtimer too. Gratz  Compared to advert it even looks better without the shade.

Claus - a reflector shade was an option on the two earlier Ouragan versions, so maybe also with this version. I also like it better without the shade.

Serge Dupont kindly sent me images from a Mirus undated catalogue. Mirus was the successor of the Pinchard company from november 1926, so this image of the Mirus made Ouragan lantern, is probably from 1927 or later. With that catalogue of Serge we can establish lighting appliances made by Mirus that was unheard of earlier. Models and burners were probably just taken over by Mirus but I think we can see other font design here than from earlier Pinhcard lamps/lantern. Thanks Serge :) !

I was not aware that Mirus had made pressure lamps after they took over from Pinchard. It sounds like there are Mirus or Gaz-Bleu lamp models I don't have listed. I think it would be very helpful if I could see this Mirus catalogue. ::Neil::

Neil, the Mirus lamps models are exactly the same as Pinchard but the fount shape
the Pinchard's models are rounder and have 3 small feet
the Mirus ones are as shown on Serge's paper
for the Pinchard and Mirus history, please have a look here :
Pinchard & Moreau : 19??/1926 (could be pre war)
lampes a pression, petrole, essence, alcool, chauffage rechauds
    Mirus : 1926/1939
lampes a pression, petrole, essence, alcool, chauffage rechauds

    here is a pinchard fount

    and a Mirus heater
