Some of those South Korean Vapaluxes still come as a bit of a shock to me - they just don't look 'right'. I suppose it's because I'm used to seeing the Halifax stuff. This is the inside of the Pellon Works, Reservoir Road, Halifax, presumably around 2009 or 2010 - pretty run down by then. Notwithstanding the original title on this image from link above, personnel are, I think, (l-r) Peter Sunderland, Works Manager, Jae-Jung Won, the new South Korean owner and Stuart Kendall, Director of Bairstow Bros. (1985) Ltd. Somebody please correct me if that's not right.
Well I hope the Koreans do well, maybe they will decide to make the hand lamp or better yet the suspension lamp.
Anyone looked at the Vapalux website recently? It looks like they're churning out some nice looking lamps and you can add them straight to your cart.
You have an interesting point. I will keep my remarks to the models that have a chassis. IE the defender. I have 3 300Tdi's 2 for spares and one that is my main transport. Getting harder to maintain the bodywork!! Drive train is solid. I like the latest Disco but only if I don't pay the running/repair bills.
lol! Body work on original disco is not fun when tin worm sets in. We scrapped ours for that (and other things) Don't want to take this any more off topic(!) but the last "proper" land rover motor is the TD5 - after that (including defender) they all got a bit yuppified and expensive. I guess a business has to survive (and the same holds true for the modern Vapalux) but I wish they could keep the soul and the price down... [disclosure, 300TDi 90 a project series 3 diesel and far too many vapalux/bialaddin lanterns for the Missus to be happy]
Interesting that Bairstow Brothers now have a hand in another company our family are rather fond of & support the team Tom rides for: Source: A History of Orange Mountain Bikes | Biketart | Blog
Orange make some lovely bikes, Those pictures bring back memories, my second job was in a stove enameling factory, Banstead Finishers in Waterlooville, nice and warm in winter but it was a bloody nightmare in summer, it was so hot you were absolutely exhausted by the end of the day, i didn't pursue a career in the industry
Does that ****wit NEVER stop talking! - completely boils my piss every time. Now I need to go and lay down in a dark room...
Mope - D2 TD5 - I loved it. T Boned by some halfwit and now it is "gawn". Should be in open section I suppose. Sorry
