I bought a lamp from eBay, marked as shipped four days before it actually was, tardiness in getting the tracking number to me, but finally it all looked good and it was due to be delivered today and then the tracking shows this: 'Not Delivered - Damaged Parcel'
Yeah, James that was my first thought, wouldn't be the first time I've had a lamp arrive with a full tank, but so far nothing has leaked. I started sending a message to every 'non-lampie' seller a while ago giving a little advice, I don't think any-one reads it.
Hi Jean, Not very rare, just a bit of a bargain. I would have made a good donor for four other lamps that need some parts to finish off.
If a parcel gets damaged in any way during transport I would recommend to reject it when it will be delivered some days later. Mostly the shipping company will re-box it or check the contents for damage. (depending on the company, of course) It is just a legal problem who signs for it... If you sign, you have the trouble, if you reject it, it is all the sender's trouble and you will have less trouble getting your money back. Erik
I know some people won't pay an ebay seller unless the seller acknowledges the buyer's packing requests. Too bad you didn't get the package.
I've been refunded, so at least I'm not out of pocket. Seller hasn't said what happened to the package, but I will see the driver soon enough and get the low down. It's my experience that things generally never get damaged unless they were badly packed, there are exceptions, but as a rough guide it holds true. -- Update: Seller has cancelled the order as being out of stock and given themselves a defect!
