As mentioned in my 300x post i have a Tilley wall lamp to fettle which is proving difficult to remove the valve from the cranked stalk.
Tried soaking in release oil for days but i think that the oil is not penetrating due to the sealing washer, also tried heating the fitting with a gas burner to no avail.
Any ideas before i drill it out.
    Anyone else had this problem.
    Regards, Clive.

If it isn't leaking, I'd be tempted to leave it alone. Once you have the lamp working, it may free itself with the heat extended over several hours and the solvent action of the fuel...

Thank's for reply but there is a blockage somewhere and i suspect the nrv so it will need to come out one way or another.
I wonder if the thread is 1/2" bsp as i have the taps to clean the threads out if i drill it. Will have to check on that with a spare valve.

    ...Clive,

I think the threads might be BSB or Cycle threads,

Some may be BSP, but quite a few are much finer?

Butter has hit the carpet, unfortunately it was on fire when it snapped off an burnt the carpet.
Drilled the remains out so just need to clear the thread when i check the pitch of the new valve.
at least the pipe is clear now.all good fun.!!!

Bought one off E Bay, cost me £3.00 ish inc postage,
Was lucky to find a used one, plug tap as well so it cleared all the threads easily as the are only soft alloy.

Before i sign off on this thread, sorry for the pun.
Is it normal or just to repair like for like to replace the nrv in the control cock as other manufacturers dont fit one at all or do you somtimes leave it out.
Does not seem to be essential for operation though i have always replaced with a new seal on all the lamps i have fettled.
